Arlo gagestein

In 2013, the OPD Fitness Program was developed by Chief Eric Young  and Strength and Conditioning Specialist Arlo Gagestein from Competitive Edge Fitness to promote health and well-being among the Ogden Police Department. While the greatest concern was for officers struggling to pass the PT test, the vision and goal of the program is to promote improved fitness for everyone, regardless of the fitness level they are currently at.

At OPD Fitness, we specialize in tactical strength and conditioning. In a tactical program we simultaneously build strength and improve on PT scores, while preparing for potential duties an officer may be called upon to do. We will post a workout of the day on this website, and can also provide more individual programming for those who are just getting started or struggling to pass the PT test as well as advanced options for extremely fit athletes who train all the time. Safety, results, and the quality of the experience at Competitive Edge are of equal importance and are an absolute priority.

Arlo has owned Competitive Edge Fitness in Ogden since 2005. He is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator. He has Bachelor's Degree in Human Performance from Weber State University and graduated from Myotherapy College of Utah as a Sports Massage Therapist. He is the author of Battle Tested: How to Train Like Your Life Depends on It and Warrior Core: Core Training Secrets for Modern Combat Athletes and has also been published in Jiu-Jitsu Magazine, the NSCA TSAC Report, Fight Camp Conditioning, Performance Conditioning Volleyball, the Standard Examiner, and more.
